Shah Jahan, who was head-over-heels in love and grief-stricken to his third dear wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Her complete name was Arjumand Banu Begum before marriage.And she was a Muslim Persian princess and she was the son of the Mughal Emperor Jehangir and grandson of Akbar the Great.At the age of 14 the man shaj jahan met Mumtaz and fell in love with her. After five years i.e in the year 1612, they got married.
Suddenly Shah Jahan, died in year 1631, while she giving the birth to their 14th child, i.e.Gauhara Begum. It was the memory of Shah Jahan of his beloved wife's(Mumtaz ) built a excellence monument as a tribute to her, which we today know as the "Taj Mahal".
In the 1631 the construction of Taj Mahal was started.And this construction took approximately 22 years to built what we see today(Taj Mahal).... Masons, stonecutters, inlayers, carvers, painters, calligraphers, dome-builders and other artisans were required from the whole of the empire and also from Central Asia and Iran. This construction was built entirely out of white marble, which was brought in from all over India and central Asia.Love on his wife made use of the services of 22,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants for the construction. Finally in the year 1653 Taj Mahal Construction was completed after an expenditure of approximately 32 million rupees (approx US $68000).The principal mausoleum means complete building completed was completed in 1648 and the surrounding buildings and garden were took more five years to complete.
After completion of Taj mahal it was very soon that Shah Jahan was seperatd by his own son Aurangzeb and at near by Agra Fort he was put under house arrest.He himself, lies burried in this housing a tomb(mausoleum) along with his wife.
